Personal Assistants wanted Arbury, Cambridge
I hope this is okay to post here:
Feel free to link to this or otherwise direct people. I'm looking for personal assistants working for me through my direct payments. I'm looking for two sets of (potentially intersecting) people:
- I am looking for people to be my PAs long term which will involve relatively short shifts (many of 1-2 hours long) so is unlikely to be suitable for someone who doesn't already live/have other jobs in Arbury or very nearby. This will involve probably 3 PAs sharing the work to allow for holidays gracefully so will be a relatively small number of hours a week - around 9 regularly, more as and when.
- More urgently I am looking for anyone willing to work up to around 25-30 hours a week as an interim. The shifts can be longer as it is a temporary arrangement and would probably involve one shift of 3 hours a day 7 days a week but longer some other days. I can be more flexible about timing in terms of this beyond there will be a need to do some weekend work.
If you are interested in either or both of these or know someone would might be then ( see under the cutCollapse )
X-posted to a couple of Cambridge groups. Current Mood: apathetic

SOLD FF/FS 60cm slot in electric cooker - correction 55cm
We're having a new kitchen fitted next week, with built-in appliances, and as a result I have a 60cm slot-in electric cooker for sale, or for free to a good home. If no-one wants it I'll let the builders take it away when they pull the old kitchen out.
It's got a ceramic hob with two large rings, one small, and one dual-size. There's a large fan oven which can be run from a timer, and a smaller conventional oven with grill.
If anyone is possibly interested and can collect from Shelford, preferably on Sunday, then let me know and I can send more details.
It's in good condition, and works perfectly, but the oven could do with a proper clean :)
Edit: here's a photo:
Edit again: sorry, checked now I'm home and it's actually 55cm

Does anyone fancy helping us out on the door at either event (or both!)? The reward is our love forever and free entry; we may even be able to stretch to a drink as well (but remind me I owe you one, because I'll be running about like an idiot and will otherwise forget!) ;-)
We're also looking for a compere for the gig, again in return for free entry! Fancy getting up onstage in front of everyone to announce the bands? Think you're witty enough to give it a go? We'll gladly give you the mik - after all if we can do it, anyone can!! ;-PEvent No. 3

Also, I'll be onstage at the end of the night with a bunch of other awesome musicians, singing a very special version of a well known song to celebrate the Goth scene as we know and love it! :-D

The Calling (local goth/industrial club night)
What an excellent night! Turn-out was fantastic - better than we ever expected. Throwing in excellent DJs, excellent doorstaff, and the night was perfect.
A sincere and heartfelt thankyou to everyone who chipped in to help - and equally to everyone who showed - without you there wouldn't be a club.
Roll on December 4th! Rocky Horror theme - we're expecting about 8 Dr. Frank-N-Furters already.
If you would like to DJ, pop us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org), listing genre + a few songs you consider to be within it.
Same e-mail if you would like to get involved atall - including general publicity, doing doorwork, etc.

****Don't forget, tonight sees the re-opening of The Calling****
Different venue - The Q Club (corner of Station Road and Hills Road)
Same time - 9-2pm. Same music (80s,goth,darkwave,industrial)
V for Vendetta theme - dress-up and masks optional
We have excellent DJs lined up, and flowers - red and white. We'll be handing these out to people until they run out - so get there quick!
If you are on the "maybe" pile - change your mind to definitely attending! This looks to be a spectacular night, and who can go without a white rose?!
Spread the word!!

There's going to be a three-week gap between the arrival of my cats and the arrival of me in Cambridge, due to an unfortunate confluence of school ending and lease running out times, which will leave me in a hotel for three weeks. So, I'm looking for a cattery to put my kitties in while they wait for me. (I already have airport pickup and transport arranged for them.) Has anyone used Westlodge Kennels and Cattery out in Great Abingdon? Or do you have any other insight into good local catteries?

University Athletics Track
I wondered if anyone uses the University Athletics Track
on Wilberforce Road? There was an event
on the track today and I had hoped to go watch but got up late and it has been very blustery/rainy so I haven't as yet seen it. I'd like to run on a track while trying to improve my running, and save the road running for once a week longer run but it looks a bit expensive as a general public user. Maybe I could join Cambridge & Coleridge Athletics Club if only to use the track (if they let me). Ordinarily I would like to join but it conflicts with my Ninjutsu
training on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The other thing I don't know is when the track is booked. What would be the point in getting a track card if it was always booked up by another club or college when I wanted to run? No indication of booking schedule on their site. Current Mood: confused

Has anyone else noticed....
A distinct lack of Tourists in the city, this last few weeks anyway. Anyone want to contribute ideas why? I run a business and is greatly dependent on the tourism so I'm extremely curious.
